A tragic residential fire occurred on Fulong 1st Street, Yingge District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, at noon on April 2, resulting in the deaths of a mother and daughter. According to Taiwan media reports, police have detained a suspect, and further investigation is underway to determine the motive and details of the incident.

The fire broke out at 12:47 p.m. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and discovered that the residence was occupied by three individuals. At the time of the incident, one person had already left the premises. Firefighters rescued a 58-year-old woman surnamed Zhang and her 25-year-old daughter surnamed Huang from the third floor.

However, both victims had likely inhaled excessive smoke and showed no signs of life at the scene. They were not transported to the hospital.

The homeowner, a 59-year-old man surnamed Huang, reportedly escaped the fire and fled the scene immediately after the blaze began. Investigators are examining the site and reviewing security footage. Police suspect the man of arson and conducted a large-scale search to locate him. He was found at around 1:00 p.m. and taken to the police station for questioning to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
