After experiencing delays in receiving a return ticket from Yangon to Bangkok, sudden cancellations by the airline, and nearly being unable to board the flight from Bangkok to Yangon due to the lack of a return ticket, DDN reporters finally boarded a flight to Myanmar today (April 1). While waiting at the airport, reporters encountered several members of the Blue Sky Rescue Team from Nanjing.

Due to the ongoing earthquake crisis in Myanmar, there were very few passengers on the Bangkok to Yangon flight. In contrast, flights from Yangon to Bangkok were fully booked on the ticketing website.

According to reports, the rescue team members were originally scheduled to fly directly from Nanjing to Yangon and then travel by car to Mandalay. However, after their flights were unexpectedly canceled, they had to first travel to Bangkok and then take a connecting flight to Yangon, making their journey quite hectic. Initially, they were all supposed to travel together, but with Mandalay's airport closed, they had to split into smaller teams, with three members having already arrived the day before.

One member shared that he had never been to Myanmar before but had participated in rescue operations during the earthquake in Turkey, giving him considerable experience. He advised the reporter to be cautious while in Myanmar, as the region has been plagued by ongoing conflict for many years, posing certain dangers.

To save lives as quickly as possible, the team is determined to proceed to the area. Among the team members, there is also a veteran who was part of the PLA stationed in Hong Kong. All the rescue team members expressed their hope that everyone would focus on the rescue efforts, wishing to contribute as part of the Chinese rescue team on the ground. Before departing, this team member, who had lived in Hong Kong, once again greeted reporters and reminded them to stay safe.

Moving forward, DDN will bring you on-the-ground reports from the earthquake-affected areas in Myanmar.
