A devastating earthquake struck central Myanmar on March 28, causing the collapse of a 30-story audit office building under construction in Bangkok, Thailand. Investigations revealed that some steel materials used in the building were substandard, with suspicions pointing to a Chinese steel manufacturer as the supplier.

According to Nation Thailand, on March 31, Thailand's Ministry of Industry collected steel samples from the debris at the collapse site. These samples were tested at the "Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand" in Khlong Toei district. Assistant Minister of Industry Thitipas Chotedechachaina confirmed that one of the three steel samples tested failed to meet required standards. Authorities plan to conduct further tests on additional samples.

As of April 1, the death toll from the collapse has risen to 12, with 75 workers still missing. Media reports from the scene indicate that rescue teams are racing against time to recover survivors. However, progress has been slow, and the stench of decomposing bodies has begun to emerge from the rubble.
