In the early hours of March 31, a massive fire broke out at a Tesla showroom on the outskirts of Rome, Italy, destroying at least 17 brand-new electric vehicles and causing significant structural damage to the building. Local police have launched an investigation and suspect the incident may be linked to targeted sabotage by extremist political groups.
Firefighters and law enforcement responded swiftly to the blaze, but the fire had already caused extensive damage. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting on-site inspections to gather evidence.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk condemned the incident on his social media platform X, calling it an act of "terrorism." The attack comes amid a surge in vandalism incidents targeting Tesla facilities worldwide, which some speculate could be connected to Musk's recent public support for several right-wing political groups.
Over the past three months, similar attacks have been reported in Sweden, Austin, Texas, and the San Francisco Bay Area, where Tesla facilities have been vandalized or showroom windows shattered.
