British band Coldplay is set to hold a concert at the Kai Tak Sports Park main venue early next month. The ticketing platform Cityline has indicated that some "ticket information contains discrepancies" that require replacement, but has yet to explain the reasons for this, and their ticket exchange arrangements have faced criticism.
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law, described the incident as "unthinkable" in an interview with the press, stating that she plans to consult with major event organizers to understand their past experiences working with Cityline and whether there is a need to establish a new ticketing platform.

In her interview with the South China Morning Post regarding the Coldplay ticket printing error, Law expressed disappointment over the incident, describing it as unthinkable and noting that the cause of the issue remains unknown. She believes that the ticketing platform Cityline should be accountable to the public.
Currently, Cityline operates nine ticket exchange points in seven locations in Hong Kong and two cities in the Mainland. Law mentioned that ticket holders arriving from other places can still exchange their tickets and believes that the number of people affected by the incident will not be too large.
However, Law emphasized that similar incidents must not occur again, and the government will investigate the reasons behind it. She also expressed a long-term intention to improve the ticketing system for events in Hong Kong, suggesting that all events should fully transition to electronic tickets. Additionally, she stated plans to consult major event organizers to understand their past experiences with Cityline and whether there is a need for a universal, independent ticketing platform.
Law noted that Hong Kong operates in a free market, allowing event organizers to decide which ticketing platform to use. However, she believes that if the authorities propose reforms, Cityline must deliver good performance; otherwise, event organizers will not continue to collaborate with Cityline.
