British band Coldplay will hold a concert tour in Kai Tak Sports Park in April. Successful buyers have recently obtained their tickets, but some fans have been notified by the ticketing website Cityline that "there is a discrepancy in the information on the tickets", and they have to go to seven designated locations in Hong Kong to exchange for a new version of the tickets two weeks before the concert. Some mainland fans considered it extremely inconvenient to travel to Hong Kong to exchange their tickets, and had to bear extra transportation costs. They demanded Cityline to send new tickets by post, or allow those affected not to exchange their tickets, or else they would have to pay reasonable compensation.
A large number of netizens also flocked to the personal homepage of Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law, to complain about the incident.
After comparing the tickets, the netizens found that "VIP-FLORIS" was misprinted on the lower right of the 1,399-priced ordinary tickets, while "KLOOK Hirer", "STAN VISA" or "STAN MAST" should have been printed on the correct tickets.
The Culture, Sports and Tourism Board said it is highly concerned about the error in the printing of some of the tickets for the Coldplay: Music Of The Spheres World Tour concerts by Cityline. Upon learning of the incident, it immediately requested Cityline to handle the matter quickly and properly to ensure that ticket buyers' experience would not be jeopardized.
The Bureau is aware that Cityline has proposed a number of remedial arrangements to deal with the exchange of tickets, including increasing the number of ticket exchange points in Hong Kong and the Mainland, extending the ticket exchange period to before the performance, and refunding the handling fee to the affected ticket buyers, in order to respond to the requests of the affected parties.
CityLine said it will add one ticket redemption location in Guangzhou and one in Shenzhen, which are located at Grandview Mall in Tianhe District of Guangzhou and KK Mall in Nanshan District of Shenzhen respectively, and is exploring the provision of express ticket redemption service, details of which will be announced in the coming days; and there will be seven redemption points in Hong Kong, which are located in North Point, Prince Edward, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kwun Tong, Tai Wai, Tsuen Wan and the Airport respectively.
According to CityLine, affected customers can go to the relevant locations to exchange their tickets between the 24th of this month and April 7. CityLine apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the incident and will refund the full amount of the service fee for the affected tickets. The refund will be automatically deposited to the credit card or e-purse used to purchase the tickets and will take about six to eight weeks to process.
