The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) announced today (March 26) that a special flyover demonstration will take place on Sunday, March 30, at around 4:00 p.m. to commemorate a century of Hong Kong's aviation history that took flight from Kai Tak. This milestone coincides with the first-ever hosting of the HK Sevens at the Kai Tak Sports Park.
The flyover event, supported by the HKSAR Government, will feature a Cathay Pacific Airbus A350-1000 aircraft flying at low altitude above Victoria Harbour and near the Kai Tak Sports Park. This spectacular demonstration symbolizes HK's rich aviation legacy and allows the public to witness a significant moment in history.
To ensure safety during the flyover, the CAD will implement a temporary restricted flying zone around Victoria Harbour. Flying activities, such as the flying of unmanned aircraft systems (drones and model aircraft), kites, captive balloons, mass release of small balloons, etc, will be restricted. The CAD will announce details of the temporary flying restrictions on the electronic portal for small unmanned aircraft "eSUA" and by Notice To Airmen.
The CAD also emphasized that the flyover demonstration will be subject to weather conditions.
