The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) has updated the requirements and regulations on local airlines regarding the carriage and use of power banks by passengers on flights. Starting from April 7, passengers are not allowed to use power banks to charge other portable electronic devices or to charge power banks on flights; and external chargers are not allowed to be placed on baggage racks.
Cathay Pacific said it recognizes the importance of further enhancing aviation safety and supports measures to reduce the risks associated with using external lithium battery chargers. Cathay Pacific will fully comply with the requirements and will work closely with the CAD and the wider industry to ensure the smooth implementation of the new requirements, which will be clearly communicated to customers.
