Art Central, the flagship event of Hong Kong Art Week, will return to the Central Harbourfront from March 26 to 30 to celebrate its 10th edition. The exhibition will showcase the works of outstanding artists from over 400 galleries across Asia and the globe.

As the lead partner of Art Central, United Overseas Bank (UOB) will present an array of exceptional works this year. UOB HK has specially commissioned HK artist Tony Ng Kwun-lun to create an interactive ink art installation titled "Clouds of Continuity."

The centerpiece features 60 handcrafted white cloud sculptures made from acrylic sheets, intricately arranged in the shape of the infinity symbol "∞." In both Eastern and Western cultures, clouds symbolize auspiciousness and hope. Drawing inspiration from the concept of "watching the clouds," Ng encourages visitors to embrace introspection and cultivate sincere, original intentions to overcome challenges and strive for excellence.

Visitors can also explore two "UOB Art Spaces": one showcasing the winners of the "2024 UOB Art in Ink Award" and the other featuring artworks from the "UOB Painting of the Year Showcase." To engage audiences further, UOB will also host ink art workshops and panel discussions. These events aim to promote cultural exchange between the Mainland, HK, and ASEAN countries while encouraging diverse and regionally distinctive artistic dialogues.

When asked about UOB's involvement in art initiatives and how these investments are evaluated, Marietta Li, Head of Strategic Communications, Brand and Customer Insights for Hong Kong and Taiwan at UOB, emphasized that art efforts foster societal harmony and sustainable development. She highlighted that UOB's corporate social responsibility focuses on children, education, and art, with the ultimate "return" being the ability to contribute to society through arts and culture.

HK artist Tony Ng Kwun-lun revealed that his inspiration comes from daily life, Chinese traditional culture, history, and aesthetics. He explained that clouds are a significant element in traditional Chinese painting, with techniques like negative space enhancing a sense of depth while providing viewers with room for reflection and imagination.
