According to a report by China News Service citing Reuters, US President Donald Trump hosted a cabinet meeting on March 24, during which entrepreneur Elon Musk stated that members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) he leads receive daily death threats.
The report noted that, with Trump's support, the government efficiency team is pushing for massive layoffs in federal agencies. Musk also mentioned that Tesla showrooms, charging stations, and vehicles have recently faced attacks.
On Jan. 20, the day of Trump's inauguration, he signed an executive order to establish the government efficiency team, led by Musk, aiming to significantly cut federal spending to restore the government's capability and efficiency. The team has faced criticism and multiple lawsuits for obtaining information from various federal departments.
During the cabinet meeting on Feb. 26, Musk stated that the goal of the government efficiency team is to reduce the fiscal deficit, warning that without cuts, the US will head toward bankruptcy. He noted that he has faced criticism and received numerous death threats for his efforts.
