Tesla, the American electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently become a frequent target of violent attacks. On Monday (March 24), local police in Austin, Texas, responded to a report and discovered multiple incendiary devices at a Tesla showroom. The bomb squad was immediately deployed, and fortunately, no incidents occurred.
The devices have been confiscated for further investigation.
The FBI announced on the same day that it has formed a special task force to thoroughly investigate the recent series of attacks against Tesla. FBI Director Christopher Wray condemned the acts in a statement, classifying them as "domestic terrorism" and pledging to hold the perpetrators accountable under the law.
According to US media reports, since Donald Trump returned to the White House and appointed Tesla CEO Elon Musk to lead government efficiency reforms, there have been at least 80 reported cases of arson and vandalism targeting Tesla facilities across the US and Canada.
Tesla's large-scale layoffs have been cited as a potential trigger for the escalating tensions. The FBI has not ruled out the possibility of organized actions behind these incidents and is expanding its investigation.
