A woman sustained second-degree burns to her back during a cupping therapy session at a massage parlor on Cheung Sha Wan Road, Sham Shui Po, at around 9 a.m. this morning (March 20). The fire also damaged the massage bed.

The victim was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment, where her back injuries were confirmed as second-degree burns. Police are investigating the incident.

According to reports from the scene, the fire broke out during the cupping session when essential oils ignited, burning the bedsheet and the woman's back. Approximately half a square foot of the bedsheet was scorched.

Police contacted the parlor's owner, who returned to the premises with the assistance of a guide dog to aid in the investigation.

It was also revealed that the technician responsible for the cupping procedure had left the room prior to the incident. Following the fire, police requested the technician to return to the scene for further investigation.
