Citybus announced at the end of 2023 that it would be updating its bus stop signs with a new design. However, the new signs have faced criticism, with passengers and netizens noting that the route numbers are smaller compared to the old version and there are "clashing colors" issues, making them hard to read from a distance.

Reports indicate that, unlike the previous designs that emphasized larger bus numbers, the new signs have significantly smaller route numbers and exhibit color clashes between the standard yellow boxes with black text and the yellow background. While some major transfer stations do include platform numbers, many citizens find terms like "Platform A" and "Platform B" confusing, stating that they've never seen these terms used to describe bus stop locations.

Recently, a user on the social media platform Threads brought up the issue again, comparing images of the new and old bus stop signs and asserting that the old design is much clearer. They conducted an online poll, which revealed that 93% of the 1,770 voters preferred the old signs.

In response, Citybus's official account commented that everyone has different considerations regarding design and emphasized that the design process involves multiple layers of consideration, making it impossible to satisfy everyone.

This response, however, triggered further backlash from netizens, who pointed out that the new signs are "very hard to read" and criticized the design for being unuser-friendly. Some have even mockingly remarked, "Doesn't your sign look like an eye exam poster?"

The Citybus representative later replied, stating they would convey the public's opinions to the relevant departments and encouraged continued feedback on the signs, expressing hope that accumulating enough public opinion could lead to change, even if it is slow progress.
