A driver of a dual-license vehicle traveling between Guangdong and Hong Kong was caught attempting to smuggle 44 used mobile phones into the mainland, according to a report by the "Customs Release" WeChat subscription account.
The incident occurred at the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
On March 7, at around 4:00 p.m., customs officers conducted a routine X-ray inspection of the vehicle as it passed through the inbound passenger car channel. While the X-ray images showed no anomalies, the driver appeared unusually nervous and displayed suspicious behavior.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered 44 used mobile phones tightly strapped to the driver's waist and abdomen with elastic bandages.
