In the past, Octopus Wallet users who wished to upgrade to an Octopus wallet plus (aged 13-17) or Octopus wallet pro (verified) account were required to submit their personal information, proof of address, a photo of their Hong Kong Identity (HKID) card and a selfie to complete the verification process, which was a relatively cumbersome process. However, Octopus has recently announced the launch of the "iAM Smart" authentication function, which provides users with a quicker way to upgrade.
The upgrade can be completed in three simple steps by authenticating your Octopus card through the "iAM Smart" feature:
Open the Octopus App, go to the "wallet" page, and click on the arrow icon next to "balance".
Select "iAM Smart" for verification and the system will automatically redirect you to the "iAM Smart" application, where you can follow the instructions to complete the identity verification.
Upon completion of the application, the account will be automatically upgraded to Octopus wallet pro (verified) or Octopus wallet plus (13-17 years old) and can be used for related functions immediately.
After upgrading, users can enjoy the following three exclusive features:
Global Octopus ePayment: Scan the QR code to pay at Global UnionPay, WeChat Pay in the Mainland, ZeroPay in Korea and PromptPay in Thailand.
Faster Payment System eDDA: Set up FPS e-direct debit authorization to add value to your Octopus card and Octopus wallet directly from your bank account.
Higher Limit: Enjoy higher stored value limit and daily transaction limit to fulfill various electronic payment needs.
On the other hand, PingPong Group, a mainland financial innovation, and Octopus have entered into a strategic partnership to provide more efficient and secure online cross-boundary payment solutions for enterprises entering the Hong Kong market, and to assist Chinese brands and global enterprises in their market expansion and business growth in Hong Kong.
