
Lingnan University has reported that an information system was hacked, resulting in the leakage of thousands of internal documents, including approximately 200 that contain significant personal information. The university has notified the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data about the incident.
In response to media inquiries, Lingnan University emphasized that it takes the matter seriously. The affected system has been immediately disabled to prevent further data breaches.
The university will also contact those affected to provide necessary support and mitigate potential risks, along with a comprehensive review and enhancement of overall cybersecurity.
A spokesperson for the university stated that the privacy and data security of students and staff are always a top priority. The university deeply regrets this incident and will continue to strengthen internal cybersecurity measures to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
