The Newport Theatre in Mong Kok announced yesterday (March 10) that it will officially close its doors on April 1. The theatre will continue to screen films until March 31, after which it will cease operations permanently.
The Newport Theatre expressed its gratitude to audiences for their years of support, stating that the closure was a difficult decision made in response to changes in the market environment and adjustments to its operations.
Opened in 2005, the Mong Kok Newport Theatre housed two screening rooms with a total of 403 seats. At its peak, Newport Circuit operated five theatres across HK. However, over the years, several locations have closed or changed ownership. Following the closure of the Mong Kok Newport Theatre, the chain will be left with only one remaining location—Tuen Mun's Hyland Theatre.
