On International Women's Day (March 8), Hong Kong's bus operator, Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB), announced that it has been actively recruiting female bus drivers, with the proportion of women in this role increasing from 6% in 2020 to nearly 8% last year—marking a growth of nearly 30% over five years.
KMB highlighted that under the guidance of instructors at the KMB Academy, the exam pass rate for female trainees in the first month of this year reached 61.5%, surpassing the overall trainee pass rate for the first time.
In a move to create a more inclusive workplace, KMB has also committed to introducing female-priority rest areas for its female employees later this year.
