On March 5 at 8 am, the first delegates' passage of the Third Session of the 14th National People's Congress took place in the Great Hall of the People, featuring several NPC representatives.
In response to questions, Lei Jun highlighted that this year marks the 15th anniversary of Xiaomi's founding. He emphasized that both the transformation of traditional industries and the growth of emerging sectors rely heavily on technological innovation. Five years ago, Xiaomi committed to increasing investment in core technologies, planning to invest RMB 100 billion over five years. To date, they have invested approximately RMB 105 billion, resulting in significant changes for the company.
Mobile Business: Xiaomi has ranked among the top three in the global smartphone market for 18 consecutive quarters. They are also focusing on the high-end market, recently launching the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Additionally, Xiaomi's IoT platform boasts the largest number of connected devices globally, reflecting growing international recognition of Chinese technological innovation.
Electric Vehicles: Four years ago, Xiaomi decided to enter the electric vehicle sector, committing to tenfold investment in core technologies to create high-quality cars. Last March, they officially launched the Xiaomi car, which received widespread acclaim. In just nine months, Xiaomi delivered 135,000 vehicles, achieving what can be considered a small miracle in the industry. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype achieved a record lap time of 6 minutes and 46.874 seconds at the Nürburgring, making it the fastest four-door car on that track. This success is attributed to technological innovation, including the development of the V8S super motor, which is the fastest and most powerful in its category and produced at Xiaomi's Beijing facility.
On Feb. 17, Lei participated in a private enterprise forum, where he felt the strong support from the central government for private enterprises, boosting his confidence.
He reiterated that manufacturing is the foundation of the nation, and as a contributor to China's manufacturing development, Xiaomi will continue to pursue technological innovation and high-end development. The goal is to accelerate the cultivation of new productive forces, apply advanced AI technologies across various platforms, and enhance consumers' lives through technology, contributing to the modernization of China.
