The opening ceremony of the Kai Tak Sports Park gathered top athletes from Hong Kong and the Mainland to demonstrate the charm of the fusion of sports and culture in the form of innovative performances. The national team's Lin Dan, Fan Zhendong, and Vivian Kong and other celebrities attended the event, and tens of thousands of spectators witnessed the birth of this new landmark of the Greater Bay Area.
Lin Dan, who took part in the performance, said, "I've never competed in such a big venue before, and I hope that more international competitions can be held here in the new Kai Tak Sports Park." Former national badminton team captain Cai Yun said that he has been to Hong Kong many times, "From the earliest Queen Elizabeth Stadium and Hung Hom Stadium to this (Kai Tak Sports Park), I am very impressed, and I hope that more international tournaments and cultural activities will be held in Kai Tak Sports Park in the future."
Badminton player of Hong Kong, China, Tse Ying-suet, swimming Olympic champion Wang Changhao, and Xiao Yanning from the synchronized swimming gold medal team all said Kai Tak Sports Park is beautiful.
Jordan Tang Chun-man said that he hopes to participate in the Hong Kong Open which will be held in Kai Tak Sports Park soon.
Fan Zhendong said he felt very shocked after entering the venue and it was very unforgettable for him to have such an opportunity to participate in such a ceremony.
Doo Hoi-kem, the Hong Kong table tennis player, praised the opening ceremony for its overwhelming atmosphere, "I have never seen such a great atmosphere in Hong Kong, with 60,000 people sitting in the venue and great singers and athletes. Kai Tak Sports Park is so big and beautiful, and I know there are other stadiums that can accommodate 10,000 people, which is suitable for table tennis, and I hope more table tennis tournaments will be hosted by Hong Kong.
Wong Chun-ting said, "As an athlete representing Hong Kong, I am especially excited to have such a large stadium in Hong Kong, and I hope that everyone will support the development of sports in Hong Kong". Hong Kong Olympic gold medalist Vivian Kong said, "It is such a great feeling to be in the main stadium, I am very honored and happy to participate in the Kai Tak Sports Park Opening Ceremony".
Hong Kong artists Donnie Yen Chi-Tan, Joey Yung Cho-Yee, George Lam Tsz Cheung and his wife Sally Yeh Chien-Wen, Frances Yip Lai-yee, Gin Lee, Michael Cheung Tin-fu; and Mainland singers Li Yuchun and Zhang Jie sang at the opening ceremony of the Kai Tak Sports Park last night.
