Hong Kong's new landmark, the Kai Tak Sports Park, officially opened today (March 1). The opening ceremony will take place at 6:30 PM in the main stadium and is expected to attract over 30,000 spectators. The ceremony features a "triple-sided stage" design that integrates sports, culture, and arts, showcasing Hong Kong's diverse appeal as an international metropolis.

The deadline for ticket redemption was set for 3:00 PM today, and some attendees began arriving early, with plenty of time before the event started. Many took advantage of this free time to explore the surrounding area and dine. The sports park includes three retail pavilions with various sports brands and trendy boutiques, as well as a Food Gala, which attracted long lines even outside regular meal hours.

Around 4:30 PM, the flow of spectators entering increased significantly, with many capturing photos at the entrance while holding their tickets. Staff conducted security checks on attendees' belongings before they could enter. A total of 8,500 tickets were made available for the opening ceremony, with approximately 90% already redeemed. Although ticket redemption officially ended at 3:00 PM, the organizers stated they would flexibly accommodate any subsequent needs to ensure no one misses the opportunity to enter due to timing issues. Attendees are reminded to exchange their tickets for physical ones at the venue by 5:00 PM to gain entry.
To ensure safety and order during the event, the organizers have prohibited the entry of water bottles, umbrellas longer than 35 centimeters, and professional photography equipment. For transportation, citizens are advised to take the MTR to either Kai Tak Station or Sung Wong Toi Station, both within walking distance of the venue. During the exit period, attendees can use the "Easy Leave" online platform to plan their routes and stay updated on public transport. Additionally, there will be no live broadcast of the opening ceremony, but edited highlights will be aired at 9:30 PM tonight across four local free-to-air television stations.
