
A traffic accident occurred in Central this afternoon (Feb. 27) when a man riding in the bed of a truck was ejected from the vehicle while it was making a turn.
The incident happened at approximately 1:21 p.m. A truck traveling uphill on Cotton Tree Drive toward The Peak made a right turn onto a downhill side road leading to Queensway near the Bank of China Tower. A male worker, who was riding in the truck's cargo bed, was suddenly thrown out of the vehicle and landed on the roadside.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene. The injured worker, who remained conscious, was fitted with a neck brace and transported to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment.
The truck involved in the incident was later seen parked at the downhill section of Cotton Tree Drive near Cheung Kong Center. Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
