A McDonald's in Brooklyn, New York, has recently implemented a new policy requiring customers under the age of 20 to be accompanied by a parent when dining in the restaurant. The manager stated that this decision was made due to frequent disturbances caused by teenagers.
According to the New York Post, this strict measure was enforced last week at the McDonald's located at the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Flatbush Avenue. Manager Amber Hussain reported that each afternoon, around 15 to 20 teenagers would gather at the restaurant, causing chaos. Issues included smoking marijuana inside, throwing ice at customers, stealing food from delivery drivers, assaulting security staff, and vandalizing glass doors.
This McDonald's has a history of violent incidents. Data from the New York Police Department (NYPD) indicates that there have been 29 reported calls to the police in 2025 alone. Records show that over the past three years, the restaurant has received more than 100 police calls each year.
The policy has sparked significant reactions. A 20-year-old student who visited the McDonald's after school last week was asked by a security guard to show her ID, expressing her shock: "This is too crazy, this is too absurd."
