Kai Tak Sports Park's pening ceremony to be broadcast on March 1 at 9:30 PM: Rosanna Law

The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law, met with the media this afternoon (Feb. 20) to discuss the opening ceremony and ticket arrangements for the Kai Tak Sports Park.

In response to reporters' questions, Law mentioned that the opening ceremony program will be pre-recorded rather than broadcast live for the public.

THE World Reputation Rankings 2025: HKU, CUHK, and HKUST in top 100

The Times Higher Education (THE) has released its latest ranking of the world's most reputable universities for 2025, featuring five institutions from Hong Kong.

Tsinghua University continues to hold the top position in Asia, achieving an impressive 8th place globally. The 2025 rankings include a total of 300 universities, with a revised scoring system that incorporates insights from over 55,000 academic experts around the world, providing a more comprehensive assessment of institutional reputation.

In Hong Kong, the three universities that made it into the top 100 have shown notable improvement. HKU climbed from the 61-70 range last year to 49th this year, while CUHK advanced from the 91-100 bracket to 69th. HKUST maintained its position at 97th, similar to its previous ranking. Additionally, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the City University of Hong Kong also made the list, ranking between 101-150 and 151-200, respectively.

Govt conducts study on regulating ride-hailing platforms, TD announces

The government is conducting a study on regulating ride-hailing platforms, said the Transport Department today (Feb. 19).

This study, according to the Department, will review the overall supply and demand for personalized point-to-point transport services, while continuing to listen to stakeholders' opinions and concerns. The goal is to establish legislative proposals for regulating ride-hailing platforms and promoting the long-term health and sustainable development of these services.

Ghibli film concert to take place on April 5 in HK

This spring, Neon Lit and Clockenflap Presents are thrilled to announce an unprecedented musical event: the "Studio Ghibli Symphony: Featuring Original Singers," set to take place on April 5.

The concert will be held at the AC Hall of Hong Kong Baptist University, featuring prominent figures from the Japanese music scene. Notable performers include legendary singer Yumi Kimura, Azumi Inoue, and Yuyu Imao, alongside actress and voice talent Sumi Shimamoto, who voiced Nausicaä in "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind." They will perform classic songs from beloved films such as "Spirited Away," "My Neighbor Totoro," and "Castle in the Sky." Tickets will go on sale on Feb. 20 at 10 am via Ticketflap.
