According to a report by CCTV News, Air Force Senior Colonel Tian Junli, spokesperson for the Southern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), stated that on February 20, two C-208 aircraft and one N-22 aircraft from the Philippines illegally intruded into the airspace near China's Nansha Islands. The PLA Southern Theater Command closely monitored the situation and issued warnings to drive them away.
Recently, the Philippine side has repeatedly ignored facts and engaged in smear campaigns against China's legitimate actions to safeguard its sovereignty. On February 18, a Philippine C-208 aircraft unlawfully entered the airspace over Huangyan Island. The aircraft repeatedly altered its flight altitude without authorization, rapidly descending 920 meters within 218 seconds in an unprofessional and dangerous manner. It deliberately flew at close range to a Chinese patrol helicopter operating at its normal altitude, significantly increasing the risk of an unforeseen maritime or aerial incident.
Despite these provocations, the Philippine side falsely accused China of engaging in "dangerous" actions. China firmly denounces the Philippines' provocations and its subsequent attempts to distort the truth to justify its illegal claims.
"We sternly warn the Philippine side that such clumsy tricks are doomed to fail," the spokesperson stated. The PLA Southern Theater Command remains on high alert, firmly committed to safeguarding national sovereignty and security and maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea.
