
The 8,500 tickets for the opening ceremony of the Kai Tak Sports Park went on sale at 10:00 am today (Feb. 21) and were sold out in about half an hour. At 10:00 am, our DotDotNews reporter found that more than 60,000 people were queuing up online, and at one point, more than 130,000 people were queuing up afterward.
By 10:30 a.m., the website announced that all tickets were sold out.
Tickets for the opening ceremony cost HK$10 each, with a limit of two tickets per transaction, and a real name system is in place. The authorities said earlier that those who have successfully purchased tickets online will need to bring their e-redemption coupons and identity cards to the Kai Tak Sports Park on Feb. 27, 28 or March 1, the day of the opening ceremony, to redeem their physical admission tickets.
