The Kai Tak Sports Park will open on March 1, and 8,500 tickets for the grand opening ceremony went on sale this morning (Feb. 21) at 10 AM. It is reported that the opening ceremony will feature a strong lineup, including Olympic gold medalist Vivian Kong, Paris Olympic table tennis men's singles gold medalist Fan Zhendong, and stars such as Donnie Yen, Alan Tam, and Joey Yung. Of course, our editors couldn't miss the chance to see their favorite athletes and stars in person, so they joined the ticket-buying frenzy!
An editor entered the ticketing page promptly at 10 AM. Perhaps due to the high number of logins, the page briefly displayed a message indicating it was automatically retrying to enter the queue. After refreshing and trying to enter again, it was 10:01 AM. With such a highly anticipated performance, being a minute late meant thousands of people were ahead in line. When the page finally opened, it showed a waiting time of two hours, with 62,179 people ahead, making it seem like there was no chance of securing a ticket. With only 8,500 tickets available and a limit of two per person, one would need to be among the first 4,250 to have a shot at purchasing.

However, as long as one puts in the effort, there is always hope. A lucky colleague managed to secure two tickets without the "lengthy" waiting experience. The reporter noted that the ticket price was a symbolic HK$1, with a handling fee of HK$ representing a genuine "public benefit" initiative.
It is worth noting that this ticket sale, similar to the visit of Olympic athletes to Hong Kong, requires the tickets to be exchanged for a voucher sold under real-name registration. Each voucher will bear the English name of the person holding it as provided by the purchaser. Individuals who have purchased the exchange vouchers from the URBTIX must go to Kai Tak Sports Park's Kai Tak Arena on the designated date to redeem their entry tickets.
