
Nearly six years after a collision between a Citybus and a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong MTR Corporation Limited has filed a lawsuit seeking HK$1.71 million in damages.
The incident occurred on the night of Feb. 14, 2019, when a B3 Citybus route traveling towards Shenzhen Bay Port collided with a 507 LRT train heading towards Tin King. The collision took place near Siu Lun LRT Station. The LRT's front end reportedly pierced into the bus compartment, disrupting multiple LRT services in the area.
On Feb. 11, 2025, the MTR Corporation filed a claim with the District Court, naming Citybus Limited as the defendant. According to the court filing, the MTR Corporation alleged that the accident was caused by the negligence of the Citybus driver, which resulted in damage to an LRT train and associated infrastructure.
The filing stated that the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Tuen Mun Heung Sze Wui Road and Hoi Chu Road. The MTR Corporation claims Citybus, as the employer of the driver, is liable for the damages caused, including negligence or breach of statutory duty of care. The lawsuit seeks compensation of HK$1,711,628.89, along with interest.
