This morning (Feb. 11), at around 10:00 am, a female driver was arrested in Mong Kok for drug possession after a dramatic encounter with the police. The suspect, who was driving a private car, aroused suspicion when officers from the Emergency Unit were patrolling on Shantung Street near Kam Lam Street.
During the stop-and-search operation, the woman initially refused to exit her vehicle. After being warned by officers, she finally stepped out but attempted to dispose of a package of suspected drugs by throwing it into a roadside drain.
Further investigation led to a search of the suspect by a female officer, during which 23 packets of suspected cocaine were discovered on her person. The woman was immediately taken into custody.
Authorities are now working to retrieve the discarded package from the drain for further evidence.
