A tragic incident occurred this morning (Feb. 8) at the equine hospital under renovation at Sha Tin Racecourse. A male worker was found unconscious on the ground with bleeding injuries to his wrist and neck. A handheld electric saw was discovered nearby. His coworkers immediately called for assistance.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and rushed the man to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin, where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 a.m.
Police sealed off the scene for investigation and later found a suicide note. Preliminary findings suggest that the man may have been experiencing emotional distress due to recent personal difficulties, which led to the suspected act of self-harm. The exact cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.
