
On Feb. 5, it was reported that due to heavy snowfall and strong winds in the Sea of Japan region, All Nippon Airways (ANA) canceled 55 flights to and from airports such as Fukuoka and Toyama, affecting approximately 3,400 passengers. Japan Airlines (JAL) also canceled 31 flights to and from airports including Niigata and Kagoshima, impacting about 1,100 passengers.
According to local Japanese media, as of 11 am. on Feb. 5, the snow depth in Toyama City reached 51 centimeters, the deepest this season. In the next 24 hours, it is forecasted that the Tohoku region and Niigata Prefecture could see up to 100 centimeters of snowfall, while the Hokuriku region may experience up to 80 centimeters, and Gifu Prefecture could receive up to 70 centimeters.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has indicated that this cold wave may continue into next week, urging residents of Hokkaido to remain vigilant and minimize unnecessary outings.
