On Feb. 4, the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau held the Spring Reception, bringing together guests to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Attendees included Chief Executive John Lee and Secretary for Home Affairs and Youth Alice Mak.
During the event, John Lee wished for the nation's prosperity and for Hong Kong to enjoy peace and harmony, expressing hopes for the well-being and happiness of all citizens. Guests raised their glasses in a joyful toast, creating a festive atmosphere.
In her speech, Mak highlighted the achievements of the Bureau over the past year under the leadership of the Chief Executive. She noted successful initiatives in family development, such as the first Family and Women Development Summit, as well as the smooth operation of 452 Care Teams across the city, which mobilized quickly during emergencies. The Youth Development Summit attracted 2,400 young participants, reflecting the Bureau's commitment to youth engagement.
However, Mak stressed that these accomplishments are only milestones and that the Bureau's work is ongoing. She expressed hopes for the new year, urging her team to maintain a sense of responsibility and to engage with the community using innovative approaches. She also announced plans to hold a citywide good family election in the second quarter to promote positive family values as an essential part of societal culture.
