The 15th National Games will be held from Nov. 9 to 21, marking the first time that Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau will jointly host this event. Following this, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th Special Olympics will take place from Dec. 8 to 15.

On Feb. 4, Secretary for the Civil Service, Ingrid Yeung, announced the mascots for the National Games and Special Olympics, Xiyangyang and Lerongrong which have recently appeared in various locations across Hong Kong. A pair of 2-meter-tall mascots made their debut at Tamar Park in Admiralty, greeting citizens and tourists.

Yeung shared on social media that she, along with several female bureau heads and the Chief Executive's Office Director, took photos with the mascots designed to resemble the Chinese white dolphin, symbolizing support and excitement for both events.

Yeung emphasized that the National Games is the highest-level and largest comprehensive sports event in the country, providing a rare opportunity to showcase Hong Kong's ability to host major competitions. She encouraged community participation and aimed to present Hong Kong's hospitality to visitors from across the nation and the world, ensuring a simple, safe, and exciting experience for both the National Games and the Special Olympics.
