To facilitate the public in celebrating the festival during the holiday period, MTR has announced that from tomorrow (Jan. 24) until the Lunar New Year, it will enhance train services on multiple railway lines at different times, adding a total of over 1,600 train services. Notably, MTR will provide overnight service on the evening of Jan. 28, and will also increase train frequencies during the fireworks display at Victoria Harbour on the second day of the Lunar New Year (Jan. 30), making it easier for residents and tourists to enjoy the fireworks on both sides of the harbor.

From this Friday to the seventh day of the New Year (Jan. 24 to Feb. 4), the Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, East Rail Line, and South Island Line will have increased services during designated times on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Additionally, the East Rail Line and Disney Line will strengthen services for most days during this period.

On Jan. 28, eight local railway lines will start operating evening peak services early at 3 PM. The Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line, and Tseung Kwan O Line (from North Point to Tseung Kwan O Station) will have trains every approximately two minutes. That evening, all local railway lines (excluding the East Rail Line between Sheung Shui and Lo Wu, and Lok Ma Chau, the Airport Express, and Disney Line) and seven Light Rail routes will operate overnight, while three MTR bus routes will extend their service hours. The High-Speed Rail (Hong Kong section) will operate as usual.

Moreover, for the fireworks display at Victoria Harbour on the second day of the New Year (January 30), seven railway lines (Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, South Island Line, Tuen Ma Line, East Rail Line, and Tung Chung Line) will adjust their schedules to accommodate passengers going to and from the event. The East Rail Line will begin gradually enhancing services from the morning of that day.

The Airport Express will also extend its service hours to accommodate holiday travel peaks. On the first day of the New Year (Jan. 29), the first train from Hong Kong Station to the airport and the AsiaWorld-Expo will depart earlier at 5:35 AM; from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 (the third to fifth days of the New Year), the last train leaving AsiaWorld-Expo, passing through the airport station back to Hong Kong Station, will be delayed to 1:00 AM.
