Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, announced that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will visit China in early February. During this visit, she will meet with Chinese leaders and key government officials, and attend the opening ceremony of the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang.
Thienthong emphasized that this visit marks a "critical step in rebuilding trust" between the two nations. Notably, this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, and Shinawatra's trip aims to strengthen bilateral ties and restore Chinese tourists' confidence in traveling to Thailand after several serious fraud cases involving Chinese citizens.
Reports indicate that the core focus of Shinawatra's visit will be to address issues facing Thailand's tourism industry. She is expected to personally reassure Chinese officials that Thailand can ensure the safety of Chinese tourists.
