At the World Economic Forum in Davos on Jan. 21, Andrew Ng, former Chief Scientist at Baidu, stated that AI won't replace human jobs; rather, those who master AI will outpace those who don't.
Ng highlighted that providing AI tools to employees can significantly boost productivity and encouraged companies to invest in upskilling their workforce. This investment not only enhances employee retention but also offers substantial returns on investment (ROI).
He urged parents and educational institutions to teach children programming, asserting that a strong grasp of AI will give future workers a competitive edge. He likened hiring someone unfamiliar with the internet to an unimaginable scenario.
A Microsoft study found that AI tools could increase productivity by up to 30%, improving work quality and employee satisfaction. However, a report from the World Economic Forum and PwC revealed that employees are sometimes dissatisfied with AI results, noting that effective use of AI in creative tasks requires a clear understanding of user needs and familiarity with AI prompts.
The 2025 World Economic Forum, running from Jan. 20 to 24 in Davos, focuses on "The Intelligent Age: A Time for Cooperation," exploring global collaboration and sustainable development amid rapid technological change.
