According to Xinhua News Agency, the first ship of the People's Liberation Army Navy's 054B frigate, the "Luohe" (hull number 545), officially entered service at a naval port in Qingdao on the morning of Jan. 22.
Inside the port, the "Luohe" was proudly flying its flags as officers and soldiers lined up in formation, displaying high spirits. Around 10 am, the commissioning and flag-raising ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem of the People's Republic of China, as the five-star red flag was raised. Honor guards escorted the Army Flag and the Navy Flag as they marched to the podium. Navy leaders present at the ceremony awarded the flags to the "Luohe." The flag bearer then solemnly hung both flags on the ship's fore and aft decks. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the PLA anthem.
The "Luohe," with a displacement of approximately 5,000 tons, is a new generation frigate developed and built independently by China. It features breakthroughs in stealth technology, combat command systems, and integrated fire control, significantly enhancing its overall performance. The ship possesses strong integrated combat capabilities and is equipped to undertake various military missions, playing an important role in improving the overall combat effectiveness of the navy's fleet. It is considered a key asset in the navy's transformation and development efforts.
