On Jan. 21, Counterpoint released its monthly smartphone sales report, revealing a 3.2% year-on-year decline in China's smartphone sales during Q4 2024. Notably, Q4 2024 was the only quarter in the year to see a year-on-year drop in sales. Despite the overall market contraction, Huawei secured the top position in market share, followed by Xiaomi and Apple.

Mengmeng Zhang, Senior Research Analyst at Counterpoint said that in Q4 2024, Huawei achieved an 18.1% market share, reclaiming the top position for the first time since the US sanctions. Huawei's sales grew 15.5% year-on-year, driven primarily by the launch of its mid-range Nova 13 series and high-end Mate 70 series, Zhang added.
