Trump reportedly considering executive order to delay TikTok ban after taking office
As the US government's "sell or ban" order against TikTok, owned by ByteDance, approaches its Jan. 19 deadline, President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly planning to issue an executive order to delay the enforcement of the ban by 60 to 90 days after taking office.
According to two sources familiar with the matter, Trump's potential executive order would reverse the Biden administration's nationwide ban on TikTok set to take effect. Trump, who boasts over 14 million followers on the platform, sees TikTok as a key tool to connect with his supporters and fulfill his campaign promises.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump recently expressed support for TikTok, sharing data showing hashtags like "#trump," "#donaldtrump," and "#trump2024" have generated over 10 billion views on the platform. He wrote, "Why would I want to get rid of TikTok?"
