HK sends record-breaking team of 74 athletes to Asian Winter Games 2025, debuts in curling
The 2025 Asian Winter Games, set to take place from Feb. 7 to 14 in Harbin, will see Hong Kong sending its largest-ever delegation of 74 athletes to compete in six events, including a debut appearance in curling. The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China hosted a flag presentation ceremony today (Jan. 8).
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law, highlighted that this is the third time the country is hosting this prestigious winter sports event and noted that both the number of participants and the size of the team have reached unprecedented levels.
The President of the Committee, Timothy Fok, praised the advancement of winter sports facilities in the motherland and commended HK's athletes for their dedication despite environmental challenges. He expressed hopes that the athletes will seize the opportunity to showcase their talents on a larger international stage.
Kenneth Fok, head of the delegation, revealed that HK will send a delegation of more than 100 members, which is the largest number ever, and the youngest athlete in the competition is only 15 years old. The team will compete in six disciplines, including figure skating, short-track speed skating, alpine skiing, and curling—the latter marking HK's first-ever participation.
