66-year-old man driving tour bus in Tai Po hits 2 people with male pedestrian dies
Police say they are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po yesterday (Jan. 6). At about 5:50 pm yesterday, a 66-year-old man was driving a coach along Kwong Wang Street in the direction of Kwong Fuk Estate. When the coach reached the opposite side of a bus stop, the coach reportedly knocked down a 65-year-old male passer-by, who then crashed into a 67-year-old female passer-by.
The man sustained chest injuries and was conscious and taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment, where he was confirmed dead at 7:35 p.m. on the same day. The woman was conscious and taken to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for treatment of injuries to her limbs. The coach driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being detained for investigation.
The Special Investigation Team of the New Territories North Regional Transportation Department is following up on the case.
