An incident involving a Boeing 787-9 occurred on Jan. 5 at Melbourne Airport, as Etihad Airways flight EY461—en route to Abu Dhabi—was forced to abort takeoff due to a malfunction. The aircraft's landing gear began emitting smoke during its taxiing phase, followed by the bursting of two tires, prompting the pilots to apply emergency brakes and halt the takeoff.
The flight was carrying 289 passengers, all of whom were safely evacuated and later rebooked on alternative flights. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, according to multiple media outlets.
