McDonald's HK to celebrate 50th anniversary, offering opportunities for free Big Mac meals
McDonald's Hong Kong will celebrate its 50th anniversary, launching a series of events starting Jan. 1 next year. These include free rides on the Star Ferry and a stamp collection event where participants can win a year of free Big Macs. The beloved McGriddles, which have been popular since their launch, will also become available all day for breakfast next year.
From Jan. 1, 2025, McDonald's will temporarily place long benches featuring Ronald McDonald at 50 locations across Hong Kong, including several historic McDonald's branches and various tourist attractions. In addition to taking photos with Ronald, citizens can scan the nearby QR code to participate in the stamp collection activity of the McDonald's App.
Each long bench represents a different stamp, and after collecting a specified number of stamps, participants will have a chance to enter a lottery. There are over 500,000 prizes available, including free soft drinks and apple pies. The first 50 participants to collect 50 stamps will win the ultimate prize of a year of free Big Mac meals.
Additionally, from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 1, McDonald's will offer free rides for all citizens on the route between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui. McDonald's will also launch a limited-time McDonald's-themed Star Ferry, decorated with McDonald's characters on the roof, body, and inside the ferry. After boarding, citizens can see the Ronald McDonald long bench.
Starting from the same day, McDonald's will gradually set up large outdoor advertisements in various districts, including the Eastern Tunnel, the Western Tunnel, the tram station on Yee Wo Street in Causeway Bay, and the bus station at Repulse Bay.
