The first phase of Shenzhen Metro Line 13, spanning from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint Station to Gaoxinzhong Station, officially opened today (Dec. 28). At 10:18 a.m., the first train departed from Shenzhen Bay Port Station, marking the start of operations for the 6.36-kilometer section. Along the route, seven stations hosted unique opening-day activities to celebrate the milestone.

Many passengers, including Hong Kong and Shenzhen residents, as well as metro enthusiasts, eagerly boarded the first train. Frequent travelers between Shenzhen and HK expressed excitement about the new metro connection at Shenzhen Bay Port, noting how it simplifies cross-boundary travel. Some people arrived early to ensure they could experience the historic first ride.
The initial operation of Line 13 follows a single-route service model, with a maximum interval of 6 minutes and 42 seconds between trains. Operating hours align with Shenzhen's metro network, running from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a one-way trip taking approximately 12 minutes.

The new section connects Shenzhen Bay Port to the city's high-tech park area, addressing the transportation demands of key districts while improving travel efficiency. It also enhances cross-boundary mobility between Shenzhen and HK, playing a significant role in further integrating the Greater Bay Area.
Cutting-edge technologies are featured across Line 13 stations, including intelligent ticketing systems, self-service ticket kiosks, and AI-powered customer support. At Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint Station, mobile ticketing robots can assist passengers with ticket purchases and inquiries. The line also supports advanced biometric systems, such as facial recognition and palm vein scanning, enabling seamless station entry and exit.
