HK to welcome more top 10 snooker players as city's global appeal grows
Following the recent news of World No. 1 snooker player Judd Trump becoming a Hong Kong resident through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, other world-ranked top 10 snooker players are reportedly planning to settle in the city.
Vincent Law, Chairman of the Billiard Sports Council of Hong Kong, China, said today (Dec. 27) that according to sources in the snooker community, there will still be snooker players ranked in the top 10 in the world who will soon apply for HK residency.
Law highlighted the increased number of international snooker tournaments held in Asia over the past decade and emphasized HK's appeal as an international metropolis. He expressed confidence that more world-class players would be interested in making HK their home, further boosting the city's status as a hub for global snooker excellence.
With the growing interest from international snooker stars, Law believes HK has the potential to become the "World Snooker Center." He also called on the government to relax current restrictions that prohibit youth under 16 and those wearing school uniforms from entering snooker halls, a move he said could help nurture the next generation of snooker talent.
