Snooker World No. 1 Judd Trump becomes HK resident, aims to boost local snooker scene
World No. 1 snooker player Judd Trump has officially become a resident of Hong Kong through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, recently collecting his identity card.
Trump is currently preparing for the Macau Snooker Masters. In a pre-tournament interview, he expressed that one of his goals in moving to Hong Kong is to help grow the sport of snooker locally, hoping to witness the emergence of the next Hong Kong-born world champion.
Trump noted that Hong Kong's diverse lifestyle suits him well and that he is currently enjoying his time living there. He plans to remain in Hong Kong for the foreseeable future, focusing on competitions and not returning to the UK for now.
Trump also expressed a desire to promote snooker in Hong Kong, which could include establishing clubs and encouraging more tournaments in both Hong Kong and Macao. He also envisions that within the next 10 to 20 years, Hong Kong could produce a world champion in snooker.
Regarding the upcoming 2025 snooker World Grand Prix held in Hong Kong, Trump suggested that the government should allow youth to attend the event, as this would help popularize the sport among younger generations.
