A Christmas Day fire broke out in an iron-sheet house in Tsuen Wan's Yau Kom Tau Village, Hong Kong, tragically claiming the life of a 67-year-old woman. The incident occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m. on Dec. 25, with witnesses reporting an explosion before flames engulfed the structure.
The victim, identified as Ms. Lai, was reportedly alone at home during the fire. Firefighters arrived promptly after receiving the report, deploying two breathing apparatus teams and two water jets to combat the intense blaze. The fire was brought under control by 6:39 p.m. Ms. Lai was found unconscious at the scene and was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at around 11:30 p.m. the same evening.
