The MTR announced that starting from Jan. 5, the high-speed rail service connecting Hong Kong will open a long-distance line to Xi'an North in Shaanxi Province. Three city stations, including Meizhou West, Suzhou South, and Xi'an North will be added to the service. Tickets for the new stations and train services will go on sale starting tomorrow (Dec. 22).

To facilitate travel during the Christmas and New Year period, high-speed rail services between Hong Kong and Shenzhen will be enhanced from Dec. 24 to 29.

Additionally, from Jan. 5, there will be an extra pair of train services daily between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Shenzhen North Station, Shanwei Station, and Wuhan Station. Services to Guangzhou East, Chaozhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Chongqing will also be optimized and adjusted. The Guangzhou East line will add a new stop at Xintang Station, located in a newly developed area of Guangzhou.

The MTR stated that after these service enhancements, the number of direct stations on the high-speed rail Hong Kong section will increase to 94.
