Cold weather warning issued for HK
The Hong Kong Observatory issued a cold weather warning at 4:20 PM today, predicting that temperatures will drop significantly tomorrow morning.
The Observatory noted that the dry winter monsoon is causing temperatures in Guangdong to be 3 to 4 degrees lower than yesterday. Additionally, an area of low pressure near the southern Philippines is bringing unstable weather to the region. Tomorrow, the weather will be very dry, with minimum temperatures expected to be around 12 degrees Celsius in urban areas, and even lower in the New Territories.
Residents are advised to dress warmly and ensure proper ventilation indoors. The Observatory also cautioned against prolonged exposure to cold winds to prevent health issues.
The Centre for Health Protection emphasized that, due to the cold weather, residents—especially the elderly and those with chronic illnesses take appropriate measures to safeguard their health. The Social Welfare Department reminded elderly individuals to take care of themselves and urged family members and neighbors to check in on elderly residents, particularly those living alone.
