Cold front to bring stronger winds and chilly weather to HK

A cold front is approaching Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued a special weather advisory at noon today (Dec. 13), warning that the northeast monsoon affecting South China will strengthen tonight, causing temperatures to drop steadily over the weekend.

According to the HKO, on Sunday (Dec. 15), urban areas in Hong Kong are expected to see a minimum temperature of around 13°C, while the New Territories will experience even lower temperatures with widespread chilly conditions. Temperatures in elevated areas will be significantly colder. Additionally, strong winds will intensify the wind chill effect, making it feel even colder. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather changes and take precautions to keep warm, especially during outdoor activities.

The HKO predicts generally sunny weather along the Guangdong coast in the early to mid-week next week, with daytime temperatures rebounding slightly. However, mornings and evenings will remain cool. A replenishment of the monsoon is expected to reach the South China coast later in the week, potentially bringing another drop in temperatures.
